The Upper West Side is culturally diverse and rich in traditions from around the world — The Caribbean, Europe, South America, Asia and Africa. Generations have settled here and made this community home. Strycker’s Bay has always been a reflection of the neighborhood and its people. Unmasking the Faces of Unity celebrates the multicultural relationships we have all embraced, learned from and are united by.
More than 50 artists from around the country have donated original works of art created on masks for our next fundraising event. The children from the LACASA after school programs organized by Strycker’s Bay at PS 84 and the New York French American Charter School will create more than 130 masks that unite various cultures. The students are excited as are Stephanie Tomasson , the Trinity School Senior who designed the lesson plan and Jennefa Jerome, our resident teaching artist at The New York French American Charter School (NYFACS).
