In their last (and first) tournament LACASA resolved to do better than
2nd, and the team has fulfilled that commitment enthusiastically.
After six long hours the team took home six individual metals, an
individual trophy and their 1st place team trophy.
“It’s great to see what these kids can do when they put themselves
forward. They’ve had an awesome time, were great to each other through
wins and losses and all around shone beyond what could be expected of
them. They went out there and beat kids who get chess at school
three times a week. We’re so proud of them,” said Christian
Martinez, LACASA staff member who attended the tournament.
